HP Indigo 7K+

Launched in HP's drupa 2024 refresh of the entire Indigo range, the 7K+ is the direct successor to the Indigo 7K — HP's product page for the 7K now redirects straight to the 7K+. It builds on the proven 7x00 chassis, with more than 2,200 units installed worldwide, and keeps everything the platform is known for: 812 dpi liquid ElectroInk imaging, one-pass multi-colour printing through up to seven ink stations, and offset-matching output on a 330 × 482 mm B3+ sheet.

What is genuinely new is the intelligence and cost layer. An AI-driven analysis engine automates print-defect detection, Nio — HP's on-press AI assistant — answers operator questions from live press data, and PrintOS Color Beat holds colour on target without a specialist. The headline addition is ECO Print Mode, a four-colour mode that lays down a thinner ink film for text-heavy or less image-critical jobs at a lower click charge. Together with three-colour EPM at 160 ppm, the 7K+ finally gives 7-series owners real levers on cost per page.

The buyer profile is the classic Indigo mid-range: commercial printers producing short-run collateral, direct mail, photo products and security work that needs specialty inks — white, fluorescents, invisible, silver and the IndiChrome set covering roughly 97% of Pantone — beyond the reach of toner presses. With more than 2,200 certified substrates and a thick-media kit taking sheets to 550 µm, one press covers an unusually wide application spread.

Running economics benefit from a mature ecosystem: 7-series operators, parts and service knowledge are everywhere, and a liquid refurbished market anchors resale values. For a shop stepping up from SRA3 toner, the 7K+ remains the lowest-risk route into Indigo ownership; treat the price figures below as trade guidance, since HP quotes only on configuration.
